“God had less of you, and he didn’t like it, that’s why he created you.” – Kris Vallotton.
Many believers are still not aware of the fullness that is in the New Covenant. Many people believe that their role in life is to die daily, and battle against “The Flesh” until all that remains is Christ alone. We have prayers that say things like “I must decrease, he must increase” and “More of You, Less of Me”. While this prayer has an air of humility, it implies that you are still alive, rather than crucified with Christ already (Galatians 2:20).
The only thing that fades and decreases, is the old Covenant. So when John the Baptist prayed like that, he was in the proper context to do so, at the close out of the Old Covenant era.
John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
As new Covenant believers, we are supposed to be moving from Faith to Faith (Romans 1:17) and from Glory to Glory (2 Corinthians 3:18) by his Spirit because of our Union with Christ. We cannot decrease, rather we continue to increase and grow into the image of Christ, each in our unique expression of His Person in our Lives (2 Corinthians 3:18 ).
