By His Blood – Change me, Oh Lord?

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The finished work of Jesus Christ, is all encompassing. From the whipping posts, all humanity was healed, from the Cross, all the works of Adam were destroyed (2 Corinthians 5:14) and By His Blood all sins were forgiven and we were justified. That is not the end of the work, Jesus also rose from the grave, and humanity was born again as a new creation (1 Peter 1:3) that is no longer part of Adam, but rather as Christ is, so are we in this life (1 John 4:17).

The great truths of the New Creation is the power to overcome every adversity, as we put faith in what Christ has done to us. Our sin nature died in Christ, and we have been given a New Nature (2 Peter 1:4), our mind has been upgraded to the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), and that which was once wicked, has been transformed into a heart of flesh that loves as Christ loves, effortlessly (Ezekiel 36:26).

We are not trying to be righteous, we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ, as a gift (2 Corinthians 5:21). The Holy Spirit now lives inside of us, because we have already been made Holy by His Blood (Hebrews 10:14). There are no higher levels or new heights to reach because we are already seated in heavenly places, in Christ next to the Father, we cannot go any higher. We have already been exalted to the highest seat of Honour. Even the Father’s Glory has been Shared with us (John 17:22). God has done a complete work in humanity.

Herein is the problem, none of these truths do us any good without faith. Many believers are still running around believing in their mind that they are still sinners, they are still wicked, and their heart is still evil, completely unaware of what Jesus Christ did for us at the Resurrection. Many believers are crying out to God asking Him to change us, when in truth we have already been changed. This is why the Bible calls us to renew our minds in light of what Jesus has done. To think as Christ thinks, is how we have victory in this life.

2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

God is not trying to show us what is in our wicked hearts, rather he is trying desperately to get you to believe in the New Creation and that our hearts have been changed and are as noble as Christ’s.  God is not sending us through wildernesses to test us, because He already knows what’s in us is perfect (Hebrews 10:14), and wants us to know it and believe it also.  God is not in the trials and testing business (James 1:13), rather he is doing the same thing he has been doing for 2000 years; revealing his Son, in us and through us until we conformed to His Image as we have been predestined to be (Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18).

Philemon 1:6  That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

The key to a transformed life, is about realizing we have been changed.  It’s not about trying to get more, be more or do more, rather it’s all about resting in the fact that Jesus Christ in us, is the Change we’ve been looking for.
